About the role

This max-term role is in a legal function that does not operate like your traditional in-house legal team. Our team has embraced our strong technology-focused culture and delivers exceptional customer service and business partnering to help SERV achieve its strategic objectives.

Reporting to the GM, Legal & Secretariat and working closely with the Senior Manager, Legal, you will provide expert strategic and commercial legal advice to the Executive, business, and operational teams.

With a fit-for-purpose risk and commercial mindset, your exceptional business partnering skills will enable you to deliver:

• all the normal stuff like support and advice on legal, regulatory and contractual matters, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements across the business.

PLUS some not-so-normal stuff that is unique to us like

• Partnering closely with our Customer Growth team to support the development of new data products including the development of concession-adjacent data product opportunities and strategic alliances.
• Supporting the senior executives and the Senior Manager, Legal in managing the relationship with the State, the Registrar of Titles and its legal counsel regarding legal and operational matters relating to the Concession.

About you

This part-time role suits an experienced commercial lawyer with 8+ PQE who enjoys the challenge of delivering in a small and close knit innovative legal team that focuses on efficient work practices and exceptional customer service.

Significant experience in a major law firm and/or in a corporate in-house role is preferred, and experience in commercial transactions, IT, and/or data-related products is highly desirable. If you also have a background and solid understanding of privacy law and information security practices, you have all the technical skills we are looking for.
